Neurofibromas

Neurofibromas are non-cancerous growths that develop from the nerve sheath. They can appear anywhere on the skin and may be single or multiple.

Appearance:

Soft, flesh-colored, tan, or pink bumps that may be dome-shaped or on a stalk. A classic feature is “button-holing,” where the bump can be pressed into the skin.

Multiple neurofibromas may indicate neurofibromatosis, a genetic condition that affects the skin, bones, and nervous system.

Treatment:

Larger lesions or those that are bothersome can be surgically removed, often with minimal downtime and excellent cosmetic outcomes.
